Lunar Liftoff is an intergenerational learning program for Asian learners that increases cultural pride, self-esteem, and belonging through activities and connection at all ages.
What is intergenerational learning?
Intergenerational learning (IL) is where people of all ages can learn together and from each other, classically common within families where knowledge is shared down the generations.
In Colorado, Asian communities have voiced that they experience culture and language loss with the passing of each generation. IL provides an opportunity to strengthen social cohesion and cultural understanding between generations.
Older and younger students have the opportunity to act as teachers and learners. For children, they are able to interact and learn more deeply about their cultures. For older adults/seniors, they gain a feeling of usefulness, along with exercising their minds (and hearts).
